A hand-painted white-breasted nuthatch in its typical upside-down position on the side of a tree in falling snow adorns this handmade wood slice Christmas ornament! White-breasted nuthatches will often come to backyard bird feeders when tempted with sunflower seeds or peanuts! Hand-painted holly leaves with red berries are on the back of this ornament, with the natural wood grain of the slice as background.
This ornament is approximately 3 1/2 inches in height, 3 1/2 inches in width, and 3/8 inches thick. I used acrylics for painting the subjects on both sides of the wood slice, and seal the finished product with polycrylic. This light seal preserves the wood and paint so the ornament can be enjoyed for many years to come. Jute twine is threaded through the ornament for hanging.
