Photographing rose-breasted grosbeaks during their migration through my region is a favorite pastime, and one of my images inspired this hand-painted Christmas ornament. A male rose-breasted grosbeak is perched on an evergreen branch, which gives this wood slice ornament a holiday feel. The back of the ornament features an evergreen tree in snow with the wood grain as background. Not only would this be a beautiful addition to your personal holiday decorations, but it would also be a wonderful gift for a friend or family member!
This ornament is approximately 3 1/4 inches in height, 3 1/4 inches in width, and 3/8 inches thick, and I used acrylics to paint the scenes on the front and back of the wood slice. I added a light coat of polycrylic that ensures the integrity of wood and paint, as well as enhancing the colors of the paint. Jute twine has been threaded through the ornament for hanging
