A dark-eyed junco, our harbinger of winter, is hand-painted among green tree leaves and blue berries on this wood slice Christmas ornament. This painting was inspired by one of my nature photography images. The back of the ornament features a starry night with a silhouette of a tree with birds perched on a limb. Not only would this look great on your Christmas tree, but it would also be a wonderful stocking stuffer or a secret Santa gift anyone that love birdwatching!
This ornament is approximately 3 1/2 inches in height, 3 1/4 inches in width, and 3/8 inches thick. I used acrylic paint for the scenes on both sides of the wood slice, and sealed the ornament with polycrylic to preserve the integrity of the paint and wood slice. The ornament is ready for hanging with the jute twine that is threaded through the ornament.
